Donna Robertson, Director
Donna’s mission is to empower girls everywhere to make more informed career decisions. Prior to Modern Muse, Donna was a Director at everywoman, an organisation that works to advance women in business. In this role, she launched a personal development platform for women looking to progress their careers. Today, the platform has over 23,000 members in more than 100 countries. Donna started her career as part of InterContinental Hotel’s global sales team and was a member of its European leadership team.
Youth Ambassador Board Members
Bella Davis, Chair of the Board
Having achieved a first-class honours degree in Cultural and Media Studies, Bella is currently studying for her Masters in Film, Photography and Media at The University of Leeds and is the Digital Associate Editor for The Gryphon Newspaper. Bella chairs the calls and meetings for the board provides guidance for board members who develop the monthly newsletters and resolves any issues that might arise outside of meetings. Bella helps and ensures the board members perform to the best of their ability and get the most out of volunteering for the charity. Whilst chairing the board Bella is also the Social Content Creator and manages all the Modern Muse social media platforms.
Ashlyn Picton, Youth Ambassador Network Liaison
After achieving a first-class honours degree in BA Business Management, Ashlyn went on to join the Lloyds Banking Group ‘transformation’ graduate scheme within IT before progressing to Business Operations Manager. Ashlyn works on shaping and evaluating the Youth Ambassador Programme, reporting on its progress and development.
Chloe Gater, CEO Liaison
Having completed her apprenticeship at Specsavers gaining a Level 2 Diploma in Retail Optics, Chloe is currently an Optical Assistant and has enrolled onto the Level 3 Ophthalmic Dispensing Assistant course. Chloe connects and informs the board with our Director and Corporate Partner’s monthly activities, reporting what is happening within Modern Muse on a broader scale.
Ellen Coquio, Blog Content and Newsletter Editor
Before becoming an Underwriter at Countrywide Legal Indemnities, Ellen completed her BSc in Environmental Sciences followed by an MSc in Science Communication at The University of Sheffield. Ellen edits the blog pieces once they have been written and creates the template for the monthly ‘Girls Newsletter’.
Ellen Murley, Web Co-Ordinator
Currently, at Loughborough University studying for her degree in BSc Information Management and Business, Ellen is also the Founder of Wild Peach (wldpch.com) an apparel brand for fashion-forward females. As Web Co-Ordinator, Ellen maintains the schedule for the Modern Muse blog and uploads additional content to the website.
Georgia Hinchcliffe, Insight Researcher
After finishing a work placement at Microsoft as a Technical Account Manager Intern, Georgia has returned to Nottingham Trent University to complete her degree in BA Business. At Modern Muse, Georgia is responsible for monitoring engagement tactics and information from our competitors and companies with a youth focus to help us stay relevant and informed within in our sphere so we can create engaging content.
Graciella Martin Rijo
Graciella is a final-year Sociology student at The University of Warwick and a Lloyds Scholar. An alumni of Sutton Trust US and the Social Mobility Foundation’s Aspiring Professionals Programmes, she is passionate about helping to inspire students with future steps. With Ashlyn, she will work on shaping our Youth Ambassador programme.
Henna Basharat, Board Planner
Whilst completing her apprenticeship at Specsavers, Henna manages the board’s activities and plans and schedules the board meetings and calls to keep all the girls informed and connected. Henna creates an agenda for the agreed actions with everyone’s responsibilities, compiling a monthly update for our Director.
Sawda Onanuga, Social Content Associate/ Deputy Web Co-Ordinator
Whilst studying for her BSc Computer Science degree at Queen Mary’s University of London, Sawda brainstorms Modern Muse social content, reports the social media successes and flags any inappropriate content. Sawda also assists with our website co-ordination.
Microsoft Team – Developing the Website
Grace began Microsoft on the apprentice scheme in September 2017. Having only attended her first year of A levels, she wanted to discover the best and fastest way into work. She is now a Technical Account Manager at Microsoft and is loving it! She is passionate about expanding young girls understanding of career paths and entrances, as she was in this position just a year ago!
Shahd is studying Business, Computing & IT at Aston University. She’s currently an intern and joined Microsoft as a technology solution professional (TSP) within Dynamics. Her focus is Talent within the Finance & Operations sector. She is also involved in various projects at Microsoft such as Milkround and BAME. She’s excited to be part of Modern Muse’s technical team and is also supporting Microsoft to recruit more Muses. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling.
Tarun is studying Computer Science at the University Of Nottingham. He’s an intern at Microsoft and joined as a resource coordinator, he allocates Microsoft’s internal resources to create project teams for Microsoft’s customers. His hobbies involve going to the gym, playing football, watching football, socialising and reading. He’s looking to create a big network in the coming future and wants to make a massive impact in both his external and internal teams at Microsoft, including Modern Muse.
Tighe Brennan is a computer science student at Loughborough University. He is an intern at Microsoft doing a year-long industrial placement as a Partner Technology Strategist. In his role, he works to grow and transform partners with the use of Microsoft’s technology. He’s passionate about technology and getting people into tech. In his spare time, he plays sports including touch rugby, basketball and darts. He’s excited to be able to work with the Modern Muse team and help them achieve their goals.
Vanessa Okoh is studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kent. She’s an intern at Microsoft and helps transform lives through the use of technology. Her role is a Technical Solutions Professional which involves a lot of communication with customers, she finds this ‘exciting’! In terms of Modern Muse she’s involved in recruiting Muses and is part of the technical team, so is getting quite hands on. Her hobbies include watching anime, reading, travelling and she’s quite interested in hair styling.
